This Roadmap is written assuming you’ve never played the game, it is possible to skip or combine the steps if you have prior knowledge of the game. See the Cloud save method/exploit and Game Settings sections below for some pro tips before starting.
Backup method/exploit
Although it’s not possible to save state/game during play, there is a way, and it will make getting these trophies a whole lot easier. It’s possible to pause the game by pressing the button then select “save and quit”. At this point, quit the game to the home screen then you can upload your save game to the PS+ Cloud or a USB Drive, thus saving your progress and creating a backup. For example: You could do this when you’re on level 10 with 3 lives and when you continue after dying or doing badly badly, you can quit the game then copy over the save you backed up to the Cloud/USB Drive and resume where you were with your stats intact. This method is particularly useful when going for Centurion or getting to the later levels to obtain the collectible fruit. When doing this make sure you save at a safe point, right at the end of a level or a suitable location where you’re not going to reload and be insta-killed. You don’t have to use this method but it’s worth noting, it will void your high score being uploaded but will not effect any trophy progress.
Game Settings
With this version you have the ability to alter the game options to make things easier on yourself. To access this menu press once you’re in the game, you may have to reset game to get into the menu or for the changes to take effect. You can choose to start the game with 5 lives, which is a massive benefit to most trophies, lengthening how far you can progress in the game. It’s also possible to change the amount of points required to obtain an extra life, by default this is 20k and 60k. There is also a level select option that means once you have reached a level you can then level select back to that level by enabling that option in the settings screen, particularly useful when hunting down the collectable fruit trophies. Altering these options away from the default settings will mean that your score will not count on the leaderboard but that has no impact on the trophies.
Walkthrough:
STEP 1 – Learn the ropes
During this first step you’ll learn the basics of the game, the controls and techniques to make the later trophies easier. Just have fun, dig around and play with the enemies & boulders etc. Get a feel for everything. During this step you’ll want to go for these easy trophies which you will unlock in the first two levels:
