Kingdom Character How To Develop The Character of Jesus

When it comes to Christianity, there has been a lot of emphasis on the wrong things in this time. Nowadays we have become performance based and miss the understanding of Grace. The common belief is that the more you do as a Christian (i.e. serve in the Church, support missions, etc.), then the better you are but that is not the case. Today Christians have spent too much time trying to be better people instead of new creations. We are to become transformed by the renewing of our mind (Romans 12:2) thus putting off the old man (old nature) and his deeds. (Colossians 3:9). By doing this we adapt a new life, a new culture, new desires, new strength, new understanding, thus becoming a” New Man.” “And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” (Ephesians 4:24)

To better understand this process we must first look at what Jesus was trying to teach while on earth. A lot of times we tend to talk about Jesus and what he did, but not about what he said and taught. Jesus is a King and when a king rules and a territory, that territory adapts the king’s culture. One of the problems with us today is that we lack this understanding of the kingdom culture. As Born Again Christians we have been adopted as Sons of God into His kingdom which has a culture to be adopted as well. This is why Jesus says “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness (way of life, culture); and all these things shall be added unto you.”(Matthew 6:33.)
