1 Welcome to The Master Key to Success Webinar
● Today you’re going to learn the foundational self-improvement technique. It’s used by champions in sports and every field of endeavor. It’s what separates the average Joes from the champions of life.
○ I recommend that you use this Master Key to Success with each month of content in the Superbeing Club. As each month starts you can decide to use the Master Key for the entire month on that one concept. Then the next month you can use it for the information in that month. Of course, what you decide to use the Master Key with is
your choice. I’m just giving you some possibilities.

■ In fact, you can use this master key while learning and gaining competence with “The Master Key to Success.”
● In fact… If you’re not reaching your goals in life it is almost certainly because you’re not using “The Master Key to Success.” Once you consciously incorporate the Master Key then any reasonable goal you set your sight on can be achieved. Even many seemingly unreasonable dreams can be reached as well.
● You can use the Master Key with any skill you want to add to your life. You can use it in sports, for business, for fitness and even for spiritual growth.
● NOTE: Please don’t be deceived by the simplicity of this concept. Most of the greatest ideas are simple and easy to understand. The key is in actually doing what I show you and not contemplating it. There’s a HUGE difference between the two.
Once you actually do what I suggest it will change your life dramatically as it has anyone who has ever used it throughout history.
2 The Problem:
● Is a lack of continuous focus for obtaining your objective.
○ Too many people become collectors of all the “best” information but don’t spend much time on studying, practicing or doing the information from just one book or course.
■ Maybe you’ll attend a webinar but then not actually do the things that were taught in the webinar.
■ Knowledge is no good if you don’t actually use it.
○ Typically we’ll read a self help book or listen to an audio and say that sometime in the future I’m going to actually do what the author says to do. But for now I’m just listening or reading. But then you never get back to actually doing the program before you’ve moved on to the next shiny object or new training program, book, fitness secret or whatever.
■ I have this problem myself from time to time. I’ve bought many courses that I have not thoroughly studied or even completed just once.
■ But today I’m going to reveal a simple system for you to gain the most benefit out of the best books and courses you already own. It’s like rediscovering the book for the first time except this time you get even more excited about it because you know you’re going to really master this information. And mastering the information will dramatically improve your life. It can turn you into a new person with a bolder vision for the future.
3 Why Don’t People Focus?
● Boredom – Ex: Pushup Workouts
○ I teach people that they can build up a very nice upper body just by doing pushups. But then they often complain that it’s boring just to do push-ups. Strange how I’ve been doing push-ups regularly for a decade and never once did I get bored doing them.
○ Why don’t I get bored?
■ Because I always have a goal in mind of how many of that kind of push-ups I want to do in a row. And I know if I do certain kinds of exercises that I will reach my goal. Even if I do 300 push-ups a day for a week or a month or longer I don’t get bored.
● This is the champions focus. You work on mastering one thing until you’ve really got it as good as you want to get it. For in truth you can almost always get better no matter what level you’ve attained.
■ Also there are many different kinds of push-ups you can do. At least 50 different push-up varieties exist. Yet usually I only do 1 or 2 kinds of push-ups per day.
4 The Solution:
● The Law of Focus
○ Only so much time in the day. Better to master one thing than do many things poorly.
○ Examples of people I know who are using this law.
■ Ben Settle – Email marketing and copywriting Guru: Ben studies an info product at least 10 times before moving on to the next one.
● On some courses he’s said he’s gone over them 15 times or more.
● I’ve been a customer of his since 2007 as well as communicating with him regularly via email. And I know that over the years he’s done this process over and over.
○ Including when he was studying to become a copywriter that he would copy by hand the sales letters of Gary Halbert. In fact, he even copied a whole book of Gary Halbert by hand. Of course, Ben became a great copywriter with a proven track record of success because of his single minded focus in his learning and practicing of information.
○ He has said he wrote out by hand many sales letters. And these letters could often be 10 pages or more. Almost no one is willing to do something like that. And yet because of his efforts he’s also become one of the top if not the top expert on email marketing in the English language.
● His process is as easy as simply listening to the same course for 15 to 30 minutes a day while he’s walking his dog.
● The KEY: He sticks with one HIGH QUALITY book or course until he really masters it before he moves on to the next course. He has the goal to go through a course at least 10 times before moving on to the next course.
■ Matt Furey – Gold Medalist in China Kung Fu, National Champion Wrestler and Internet and Email Marketing Legend and Multi-
Millionaire
● He would do three wrestling workouts per day in order to reach his goal of state high school wrestling champion.
■ Just about any champion in any sport is going to be practicing many hours per day perfecting his sport and getting himself into the best shape possible.
■ Me:
● Forbidden Tibetan Energy Exercise:
○ I’ve been doing it every single day for 3 months in a row and I’ve made a number of experiments during that time with different variations.
● Discourse Method:
○ Back in 1987 I joined a spiritual group.
○ Part of the membership was receiving a monthly discourse that was about 6 to 8 pages long.
○ The main thing you were to study that month was that discourse and to do any spiritual exercise mentioned in that month’s discourse.
■ Of course, I read other books from that religion but the main focus for the month was that discourse.
○ What I’d do is first read the whole discourse over one time.
■ Then each day I’d read just a few paragraphs or a page of the discourse. And I’d also try or do the exercise being taught that month in the discourse.
■ A whole month focused only on 6 to 8 pages of written content.
■ I’d also underline any key points that came up in the discourse. As well as write notes in the margins and in my own spiritual journal.
■ You’d have thought I’d get bored from simply reading the same information over and over again and day after day the entire month. But that was not the case. I was just studying it deeply and trying to make realizations. And we were all taught this method of studying discourses how to do this in this spiritual group. And it was very effective at helping me improve my life and gain deep and meaningful spiritual realizations.
● Current Example of using the Discourse Method:
○ I’ve read one 494 page spiritual book I over 12 times (I’m on my 13th reading now)
What I do is usually read a few pages a day. And while I’m reading I’m usually doing the Happiness Meditation (singing a mantra) at the same time. If anything stands out I make notes in the book and or I make notes in my own journal. I write down what I feel and what I’m experiencing. Any idea that can help me make progress gets written down.
■ The book (in case you’re interested) that I’m constantly rereading is “Autobiography of a Yogi” by Paramhansa Yogananda.
■ Why do I re-read this book repeatedly?
● Because I like how I feel when I read it. This book is mostly stories but they are entertaining an inspiring stories. There is much spiritual wisdom which one can
gleem from reading this book and or reading books about other saints.
● The book itself transmits the vibrations of Yogananda himself.
● I’ve been doing push-up workouts for 10 years now.
○ But it never bores me.
● This month (and until I’m satisfied with my progress) I’m focusing on Time Management.
○ Specifically: I’m studying an awesome program by Jason Fladlien called “Double Your Productivity for Life.” I originally got this ebook way back in 2010. But had never
decided to use the Discourse Method with it until this past week.
http://nanacast.com/vp/108094/46382
■ If I can master just even one or two breakthrough concepts he uses then I’ll have made HUGE gains in my productivity.
■ I’m extremely excited to be studying this in depth because I know I can experience a 50% to 100% increase in my income simply by doubling my personal productivity.
■ NOTE: This does NOT mean that I have to work longer hours. Jason teaches you how to be much more productive in the same hours in the day. Really he teaches
breakthrough information. Of which I’ve known about mentally for years. But how much of it has actually sticked into my daily habits. Not much because I never decided to really focus on it until now. Even today I’m going to be practicing a couple of his ideas. Not just reading about it but actually doing the exercises. I’m SO EXCITED to be able to crank out my work a lightning speed.
○ All I’m doing is using the Discourse Method with his ebook.
■ I uploaded his ebook to my Kindle and I’ve started reading and highlighting it in depth.
■ Yesterday I tried one of the ideas and I did ok. But not good enough. So today I’ll continue with a couple more ideas.
■ I’ll continue doing this until I have a level of unconscious competence. This could take me a month or it could take me 6 months. It doesn’t matter. I’ll keep going over the book daily. Maybe until I’ve read it at least 10 times. For me to gain this skill is incredibly valuable and my productivity will sky rocket. I have so many things I could
be doing if I managed to increase my work efficiency. And I can easily see that I can double my productivity with his methods. That is get double the amount of work done in the same time I currently use. Plus I think I’ll work a little more. This can be monumental for me.
● In the past I’d just read his book and try out an idea or two and then I’d forget about it. That is the way to sure failure. But if you actually want these skills then you
have to focus on gaining them daily until they are a part of you. Doesn’t matter if it takes months or even a year it is well worth it. The good news is I have the
desire to do what it takes. Now I just have to do it daily until it becomes a habit and a system that I ALWAYS use.
● Well since I’ve since been studying and applying his course for four days now. First of all I’m astonished at how good this information really is. And how different
what he is doing compared to what I was doing. I just had such a bad system.
But even with just less than a week of his strategies I’ve more than doubled my productivity. In fact in three days I’ve gotten more done than I did all of last week.
And this is with approximately the same amount of time working. I’m not killing myself. The key is I’m learning how to be much quicker at what I do and that
is the genius of his system.
But had I not been singling his ebook out I’d not be making these work speed breakthroughs. Remember I had this ebook since 2010. It’s only now that I’m
reaping the incredible benefits. And I’m going to keep on reading, highlighting, studying and applying his ideas daily until they become a habit for me. It’s really
exciting what it is possible for us to achieve when we simply apply the Law of Focus and the Law of Practice.
5 The Law of Practice
● How he went from 0-13 to Karate Champion: Story from Matt Furey book
“Expect to Win Hate to Lose” It’s from chapter 5 – The Power of Positive Practice. And a great book I might add. I highly recommend it to all Superbeing Club members.
○ Mitch was 0-13 in tournament karate competition when he started at 12 years old.
○ His coach took him aside and told him the secret to winning was practicing every day more than anyone else.
○ Then a month later he got advice from legendary BIll “Superfoot” Wallace.
He told him this magical 6 word phrase “1,000 kicks per leg per day.”
○ Within 3 months of following this advice Mitch was not only winning but destroying everyone he fought. His matches weren’t even close.
6 Why the Law of Practice is NOT Enough
● The Law of Perfect Practice
○ Quote Corrected: “Practice makes perfect.” Should be “Perfect practice makes perfect.”
○ My Tennis Story:
■ Ever since before my freshman year in High School I started practicing really hard so that I could be a professional tennis player.
● Even though I practiced like three hours a day and 7 days a week I later found out that I was doing a LOT of stuff wrong.
● My volleys were completely done the wrong way.
● There were shots that I needed to learn but never did until I got help from better tennis players who did have good instruction and they passed it on to me.
● I had all sorts of tennis books but that was not enough to learn tennis properly.
● I was practicing but practicing the wrong things and in the wrong way. This really killed my chances at being a professional players.
● Eventually I did become a tennis instructor and after many years I found even more of the mistakes I had made in the past. Just being around other instructors and advanced tournament players helped me tremendously.
● The point being that you can’t just practice, you have to practice doing things the right way or at least a very good way in order to make a great gains in your field.
● Luckily not all endeavors are as complicated as tennis where most people need professional instruction if they ever want to have a chance to being a decent player.
● Remember – “Perfect practice makes perfect.”
7 The Power of Mastering One Skill:
● Tennis Example:
○ If you master just one shot in tennis you can never be beaten.
■ If you master the serve to the point that you win every single point on your serve then you will always eventually win. Even if your forehand, backhand, volleys and other shots aren’t that great. And someone almost accomplished this on the pro tour.
● Ex: Goran Ivanisevic had possibly the greatest serve ever seen at Wimbledon. The rest of his game was not anywhere the stature of his serve. But because he served so well and got so many aces he got to the finals of Wimbledon several times and
eventually he won the tournament.
If you gave him just an average serve he’d have probably lost in the first round of the tournament. In fact, he probably would not have been even good enough to become a professional tennis player.
Though in later years he did improve the rest of his tennis game. But still without his lethal serve he would have been nothing.
This is the power of mastering one skill. It can take you to the top.
○ Now if you take this a step further in tennis. There are just two main shots that if you’d mastered you’d be a very good player and possibly the best in the world.
■ The two most important shots in tennis in order are these.
● Serve
● Return of Serve
● If you were to develop the greatest serve and return of serve the rest of your skills could be just average but you would definitely be a champion.
● So sometimes it’s not just one skill but two or three skills mastered that can take you to success in your chosen field.
● Ex: Many spiritual techniques you can use.
○ Meditation
○ Breathing or Pranayama Techniques
○ Visualization Techniques
○ Journaling
○ Mantras
○ Singing hyms
○ Practicing the Presence of God
○ Body Activations or Chakra Meditations
○ Reading highly charged spiritual books
○ Fasting and or Mental Fasts
○ Writing to God and getting an answer
○ Yoga postures
○ Prayer
○ Mudras (Special Hand or Finger Gestures)
○ Living in a dark cave by yourself for 11 months (or even years)
○ Austerities
○ Devotion or Giving Unconditional Love to All
○ And many other techniques
○ But for me personally I’ve found that chanting mantras give me great results in connecting with my HIGHER SELF and very quickly so. While I do use several other techniques mantras are my staple and they work like a charm.
○ So I focus on mantras quite a bit and do them as the first and most important step of my daily spiritual exercise. My goal is to do at least 100 repetitions of a mantra per day. And if I have a day free I go for doing 500 mantras to really charge myself
spiritually.
○ I have heard that from chanting mantras alone one could gain spiritual freedom. And it appears to be true especially if you take the wisdom gained during the chanting of mantras and apply it to your everyday life.
● Baseball Pitching Example:
○ Mariano Rivera:
■ He basically had just one pitch the cutter fastball. But for 19 years hardly anyone could hit it. Mariano Rivera single handedly changed the game of baseball and he will be a Hall of Famer. He was rated as the third greatest Yankee player after the legendary Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. And trust me the Yankees have had MANY a
legendary player throughout the years. I think they won five World Series with Mariano Rivera being an intricate part of the team.
8 Example of Increased Income using of the Law of
Focus:
● Racquet Stringing Example:
○ When stringing tennis racquets I was as focused as you could possibly be.
■ I did EVERYTHING I could think of to increase my speed at stringing racquets.
■ Why? Because I had a natural incentive. I got paid piecework. That means I got paid a certain dollar amount for each racquet I completed and I could leave at any time once my work was done.
■ And my concentration had to be incredibly focused to be able to
achieve the rapid stringing of tennis racquets that I eventually
mastered. I mean I was totally in the zone. No room for any wasted
motion whatsoever when going trying to string your fastest racquet
ever. And I strung tennis racquets for 20 years.
■ You should have seen me go. Everything was super high speed
hand motions. And there were intricate weaving skills or tricks that
I learned in later years to increase my speed even further. I studied
under this other stringer who was super fast.
■ My first tennis racquet took me over 6 hours to string.
● My second one took me a couple of hours.
● Eventually I was able to string racquets on my crappy home
machine within about 35 to 40 minutes.
● Then I got a job as a racquet stringer at Herman’s World of
Sporting Goods and I was paid per racquet strung. I think they
paid me $4 per racquet at the time. They had a professional
racquet stringing machine. At first it was difficult since this
machine was new to me. But after a while I could string faster
than on my old machine. Eventually I got it down to about 20
minutes to string a racquet. Which earned me $12 per hour.
That was pretty good money for me back in the late 1980’s.
● Later on I got a job at the Sports Authority as a racquet stringer.
Again as in Herman’s I got paid by the racquet not by the hour.
Initially they paid me $5 per racquet (an extra dollar per hour)
because I was a USRSA certified stringer. Eventually I got my
rate up to $7 per racquet and I was a stringer there for about 9
years.
So I had real incentive to string quickly and then have the rest of
the day to myself. And the Sports Authority had a lot more
racquets for me to string than Herman’s. Of course, I kept up
good quality so that people would keep on coming back to me. It
was like a business to me. Eventually I got to the point that on
some racquets I was so fast I could string them in 12 minutes.
The average racquet was about 17 minutes to string by that
point. This includes the more difficult racquets which would take
me sometimes a half hour to string.
○ Imagine if I’d only gotten it down to 30 minutes per racquet
on average. At most I could earn would be $10 per hour
(when I was earning $5 per racquet)
○ But through constant practice with the goal of always
stringing faster while maintaining high quality I increased my
average hourly income to $17.65 per hour. That’s a nice
sized raise if you ask me.
9 The Discourse Method:
● Extremely important you study this:
○ This will tie in all of the ideas we’ve been talking about today in an
easily actionable manner. You can easily do this total process in about
a half hour per day and it is SO worth it.
○ It may seem strange to you to study in this manner but it’s the way
champions study and practice.
● This will be a summary because I have this all written down already for
you in a PDF document which you can download in the member’s area.
○ Summary: What you do is take a book, audio or video course that you
want to master and you focus going through it very slowly day by day.
○ You can simply read a few pages from a book each day and do so until
you have finished the book. Then repeat this process at least 5 to 10
times.
○ However it would be better to not only read but to highlight important
points that stick out to you, to do a daily exercise where you practice
just a little bit of what you’re learning.
■ Ex: I’m now using the Discourse Method with a course called
“Double Your Productivity for Life,” by Jason Fladlien. One of the
things he talks about is writing without pausing to think. Now me
being a writer being able to write without having to stop to think is
really valuable.
So what I’m doing to train myself to have and use this skill
constantly is what Jason did to master this skill himself. Whenever
he had a writing project he’d force himself to write without pausing
for only the first five minutes that he was writing.
It turns out that just by doing that for 7 days he was able to master
that skill and that’s how he writes all of the time now. And I can do
this pretty well, in fact, I’m using that technique while I’m doing
this mind map.
The point is I’m not just reading the book but applying what I’m
learning and practicing it. You’ll learn ten times more by actually
doing things than simply contemplating and reading about it.
○ You can pick just a chapter out of a book to do this with for a week or
even a month depending on how much material is in the chapter.
■ First you read the entire chapter in a sitting or two to three days if
it’s a really long chapter.
■ Then you read a little bit from that chapter daily. You may even
read the chapter 3 or 4 times during the course of the month. But
that is what you are supposed to do to really ingrain this
information into your subconscious mind and turn you into an
expert.
■ After you’ve studied that chapter for a week, two weeks or a month
you can move on to the next important chapter in that book for
you. You do this process until you’ve finished all of the chapters in
that book or course that you wanted to study.
○ For the complete technique (with MUCH more detail) which I edited on
June 12 and 13 2014 I recommend reading the 11 page PDF that I
have for you in the member’s area. That will go into much more detail
including 14 specific points on this process and how I’ve used The
Discourse Method in the past.
● The Discourse Study Method is a systematic and easy way to study
something in a way leading to mastery.
10 Your Action Steps:
● 1. Choose a skill or field you’d love to master.
● 2. Find the best book or course that you either have or that you end up buying.
● 3. Use the Discourse Method of Study with this book.
○ You should re-read and study the book at least 5 times and better yet 10 times.
○ You don’t move on to a new skill until you’re satisfied with the progress you’ve made. You keep going until the skills are now a habit.
Something that you now always do.
■ In my case, I’m currently doing this in a number of ways.
● 1. I’m doing it with my spiritual study with the book
“Autobiography of a Yogi”. Over the past 5 years I’ve read and
studied this book at least 12 times.
● 2. I’m doing it with my push-ups. In this case I’m not studying
any books. I’m simply taking focused action almost every day. (I
do have rest days even now I had to take off due to an chest
injury my daughter accidentally inflicted on me.)
● 3. I’m doing it with Jason Fladlien’s “Double Your Productivity For Life” ebook. And boy has it been exciting. I just feel great as my productivity is increasing. I’m finally finding a way to do “creative” tasks at a much faster speed than in the past. Like
writing emails much faster. I’m starting to feel like this is just like my racquet stringing days. I just sit down and crank it out quickly. No more constant pondering and editing. I’m turning creative tasks into something I can crank out at rapid speeds
and the time saving is really exciting. I’m highly motivated to keep on applying Jason’s ideas until I’ve gained Unconscious Competence or they’ve become habits for me.
● 4. Once you feel like you’ve gained enough mastery (could be twenty years from now for complex skills) then you can move on to learning something else.
