Welcome to SAS Beginners Guide. This course will prepare you for SAS Base Programmer Certification. Please check the class project section to download the data-sets for the course. Also, check the bottom for instructions on downloading software.

SAS Beginners Guide is the first course that you should take. My SAS SQL course is meant to be taken 2nd.

The core of SAS programming is SAS Base. This course focuses on the fundamental knowledge required for SAS Base expertise. You will learn how to use the data step. You will be able to apply this knowledge of data step to manipulate and manage your data. You will also be able to utilize the proc step (slq) (useful for data analysis and reporting). Finally, I will introduce you to the macro facility.

The following sections exist in the course: importing, how to work with data (filter observations, sort observations, merge, use delimiters, create variables, etc) how to use and apply functions, visualize your data, use statistical tests like t-tests and chi-square, and utilize macro facility for repetitive tasks.

The videos are recorded with World Programming software. This is an environment that let’s you program in a few different programming languages, including the SAS programming language. I personally use the commercial license from World Programming System to do my SAS programming.

At this link,( https://www.worldprogramming.com/try-or-buy/editions ) , you can get the express edition for free, for learning purposes. You can also get the academic version for learning purposes if you are at a university/college and have a university/college email. (make sure to sign up with your academic email if you want this version). I really suggest that you do this so you can follow along. It is difficult to learn programming without following along.
