The EMC VNX for File Simulator package is a pre-installed virtual VNX for File run on VMware Player, or VMware Workstation software. The simulator behaves like a VNX for File system with a Control Station and one or two Data Movers running the DART operating system. It manages simulated LUNs on the local virtual disk and allows the user to create and manage new simulated LUNs on mounted external file systems. Users will be able to configure the virtual VNX for File’s network settings, but other settings, such as the size of the virtual hard drive and the amount of virtual memory, are fixed.

The laptop or desktop system running the VNX for File Simulator must meet the minimum system requirements or the simulator will not install.

– One Data Mover: 4.0 GB (more is recommended)
– Two Data Movers: 6.0 GB (more is recommended)
40 GB of FREE hard drive space at install time
64-bit-capable operating system supported by VMware Workstation or VMware Player
